Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Karnataka. It is located 350 kilometres away from the State capital in the eastern region of the State. It was a part of the Vijayanagara Empire capital in the 14th century. Located near the banks of Tungabhadra River, the heritage site is home to the Vijayanagara Empire, which includes temple complexes, farms, and trading markets. Hampi was also regarded as the second biggest city of the medieval era, behind Beijing. Today, we can see the remains of the monuments at the heritage site. Here is the best two-day itinerary to travel to Hampi.

How to reach Hampi

You can reach Hampi by road, railway, and air. You can drive to the city from various locations. By rail, you have to get down at the nearest railway station, Hospet junction, which is just 13 kilometres away from Hampi. If you are travelling by air, then the nearest airport is Bellary airport, which is 60 km away from the temple town. Or you can get a flight to Hubli Airport from where the temple town is 143 kilometres away.

Two Day itinerary

Start the tour from Hospet using a cab. For day one, the ideal time to leave is at 10 am. You can visit 22 places in two days in this historic town. The times in the itinerary are average times and may vary depending on your time of travel.

Day 1

After travelling for 1.3 km, you will reach Ugra Narasimha / Lakshmi Narasimha Statue. Time to be spent: 30 minutes 

Then take a walk to Sri Krishna Temple / Bala Krishna Temple. Time to be spent: 1 hour

Then walk to Kadalekalu Ganesha Temple. Time to be spent: 15 minutes.

Then walk to Virupaksha Temple. Time to be spent: 1 hour.

Then you can walk to Hemakuta Hill Temple Complex. Time to be spent: 1 hour

Then travel to Hampi Bazaar. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then travel to Achyutharaya Temple. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then travel to King's Balance. Time to be spent: 15 minutes.

Then travel to Vittala Temple / Vijaya Vittala Temple/ The stone chariot. Time to be spent: 1 to 2 hours.

Day 2

Start your day at 8 am

Start your travel with Pattabhirama Temple. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then visit the Archaeological Museum. Time to be spent: 30 minutes to 1 hour

Then you can visit Malyavanta Raghunathaswamy Temple. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then travel to the Queen's Bath. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then travel to Mahanavami Dibba / Dasara Dibba. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then visit the Stepped Tank. Time to be spent: 15 minutes.

Then travel to Royal Enclosure. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then travel to King's Audience Hall / Durbar Hall. Time to be spent: 15 minutes

Then travel to Hazara Rama Temple. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

Then travel to Vira Harihara Palace. Time to be spent: 15 minutes

Then travel to Lotus Mahal. Time to be spent: 15 minutes

Then travel to Zenana Enclosure. Time to be spent: 30 minutes

End your day in Hampi by visiting the Elephant Stables. Time to be spent: 15 minutes
