'Petta': A stylish and vintage Rajinikanth that everyone is sure to love

Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Petta' trailer released on December 28, 2018, at 10:30 AM on all social media platforms, and within a period of three hours the audience have viewed it more than a million times, that is a record in itself. 

The film is helmed by young director Karthik Subburaj who is experienced in directing various short films and now is a very established director in Tamil film industry. The electrifying film 'Petta', apart from superstar Rajinikanth, stars Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Trisha Krishnan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles. 

After viewing the trailer, one can say that Rajinikanth with his appearance and mind-blowing performance has just mesmerised his fans. After starring in films such as 'Kabali', 'Kaala' and the recently released '2.0', the audience was craving for a stylish and vintage Rajinikanth like his previous films such as 'Padaiyappa', 'Baasha', and 'Annamalai' that were massive mega hits of the superstar post the 90s and 2000s.

The 'Petta' trailer with its action-packed performances and mind-blowing sequences has the viewers hooked and wanting for more. Going by the comments on social media, netizens see the comeback of a stylish and vintage Rajinikanth that resembles many previous characters portrayed by the star in other films. 

Rajinikanth's classic costumes, dialogues along with a fabulous screenplay add to the landmark style of our very own 'Thalaivar'. A certain scene from the 'Petta' trailer have netizens wowed as it resembles the first film of the superstar titled 'Apoorva Raagangal'. The film is a basic black and white in nature that released way back in 1975 and was loved by the audience.  

The dearly-loved superstar is known for his iconic sunglasses scene, which was portrayed in films such as 'Annamalai', 'Padaiyappa' and 'Arunachalam' and thus resembling the same, his upcoming release 'Petta' has a few iconic shots too. 

Talking about resemblances, back in a 1980s film, 'Billa', Rajinikanth was seen using a revolver gun distinct manner, which makes a comeback in 'Petta' wherein the superstar is seen using the similar kind of revolver gun in the same style. 

Another instance, where Rajinkanth's old iconic films make a comeback is when in the 'Petta' trailer, the 'Thalaivar' fans can be seen riding bicycles after watching his film 'Annamalai'.

As it goes without saying, punch dialogues and Rajinikanth cannot be separated at any time and so his unique way of dialogue delivery, modulation and expression will most undoubtedly not only get massive applause in the theatres but also whistle blows, dance and celebrations. 

Director Karthik Subburaj who himself is a fan of Rajinikanth, and grew up watching his films has been able to come up with a perfect blend of Rajinikanth avatar's in this film that is sure to appeal to all kinds of audience.Ever since the trailer was released, social media is filled with praise of the 'Petta' trailer. The film is slated to hit the theatres on January 10, and one can say that the day will be a feast for the 'Thalaivar' fans before the harvest festival Pongal.
