Don't blame them: Rahul Gandhi defends Parliament security breach accused
Two people-Sagar and Manoranjan- jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from visitors' gallery during Zero Hour and released yellow smoke on December 13.
Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blamed unemployment for the attack on Parliament while speaking at the protest of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Friday, December 22.
In a bid to corner the central government over, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the attackers moved into the Parliament in the way because of unemployment. Rahul Gandhi said, “2-3 youth entered Parliament and released smoke. At this BJP MPs ran away. In this incident, there is the question of security breach, but there is another question of why they protested this way. The answer is unemployment in the country.”
"There is huge unemployment in the country. The youth of this country cannot get employment today," Rahul Gandhi added. Expressing concern over the security breach, Rahul Gandhi said, “First of all, how did those people come inside, they brought gas cylinders inside the Parliament. If they could bring that then they could have brought anything,”
In a major security breach on December 13- anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack- two people namely Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D- jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors' gallery during zero hour, released yellow smoke from canisters. All the protestors have been detained and have been remanded to police custody till January 5, 2024.
Responding to the same, BJP leader and Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, “Rahul Gandhi is immature, non-serious and undemocratic. Whether inside the house or outside, this is shameful... Either by his actions or his speech, he has been criticised multiple times. The country will not forgive Rahul Gandhi for what he did. If an MP was into a misdeed, then he should have stopped him instead of joining him... Instead of apologising, they are making allegations."
