New Delhi: Ahead of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22, the National President of Hindu Sena, Vishnu Gupta wrote a letter to the Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), demanding that the name of Babar Road be changed. In the letter, Vishnu Gupta has urged that the name of Babar Road be changed to Ayodhya Marg.
In the letter, Hindu Sena President Vishnu Gupta said, “Babar was an infiltrator, invader and a Jihadi terrorist. That Jihadi Babar tortured the people of India and forcibly converted Hindus, demolished monasteries and temples and built mosques on them. In which, the main mosque was Babri Masjid in Ayodhya; now a temple of Lord Ram is being constructed there…”
“When we pass through Bengali Market in New Delhi, we see Babar Road, which reminds us of the cruelties and atrocities committed by Babar on Hindus. Therefore, you are requested to change the name of Babar Road to Ayodhya Marg,” the letter further reads.
This is not the first time a demand to rename Babar Road has been raised. In September 2022, Hindu Sena had written to NDMC, demanding the renaming of Babar Road to Bhagwan Valmiki Marg. In the past too, various Hindu groups have sought renaming of the road.
