After registering a thumping victory against Denmark's pair of Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the quarter-finals, the duo looked determined to hop over the Japanese pair in the semis as well. The first game was dominated entirely by the Indians as reflected in the scorecard which read 21-11 at the end. Rankireddy put up a spectacular show throughout the match and won the round in 15 just minutes. Endo and Watanabe tried to make a comeback in the first round itself but were brilliantly shunned away by Reddy-Shetty. In the second game, Satwik and Shetty were edged by the Japanese duo in the beginning but gave strong fight as they took lead 11-8 in the mid-break. After the break, a spectacular game of badminton was witnessed as it almost felt like a rollercoaster ride with both the teams fighting hard to take an edge in the game. The Indians were the first to get to matchpoint but were denied twice by Endo and Watanabe. However, the Indian pair did not take long to wrap up the match as they closed the second game with 25-23 and ended the match in 50 minutes.
