In a recent interview, basketball veteran Tim Thomas revealed why he feels LeBron James, Micheal Jordan, and Kobe Bryant are the greatest of all time. Thomas has played against all three at different points in his career. He talked about how he differentiates between the three players, and when he knew Bryant was special.

When asked about how he differentiates between the three players, Thomas said that he cannot. He stated that all three have used techniques of people who played before them and added their own touch to it. He referred to Michael Jordan, agreeing that there are various eras and a player cannot be categorised. He said that someone will always be next, breaking James and Jordan's records. Thomas added that he hopes he will be around to see it happen. When asked about Bryant, he said they were like hungry kids when they met. It did not matter who they were competing with, and they learned to play with the best. He said that Bryant was motivated to get where he hoped to be and had a lot to prove.

Thomas, was a seventh overall NBA Draft pick in 1997 played 12 NBA seasons for seven NBA teams – Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers. Thomas averaged at 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 824 games of his NBA career. Jordan was a mentor to him because of his friendship with Scottie Pippen. He played AAU basketball with Bryant and was already playing in the league when James started in 2003.
