You know how big an event it is when it takes place once in four years. That's the reason why India’s victories in the 1983 and 2011 editions of the World Cup are considered among the glorious achievements of the country. Now, with Team India taking its first major step towards the tournament, the announcement of the squad, one is once again reminded about the massive expectations that the Men in Blue face. Not just cricketers, even celebrities from various other fields expressed their thoughts and conveyed their wishes to the squad. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav too conveyed his best wishes to Virat Kohli’s men by comparing the team to the spirit of India, ‘diverse, different, and truly powerful.'
Hours after Chief Selector MSK Prasad announced the squad in Mumbai, Yadav tweeted, “Our team is an example of what India is like — diverse, different, and truly powerful. Our unity is our strength. I wish Team India the very best — a billion Indians are with you.”
Previously, Virender Sehwag too had conveyed his best wishes for the team.
The World Cup kicks off on May 30 and will be played in England and Wales. India will begin its campaign against South Africa on June 5.
