When it’s India vs Pakistan, one just can’t expect things be hunky-dory, since a charged-up atmosphere is obvious. While mind games to unsettle each other, on-field sledging and even physical confrontation has taken place at the neighbouring countries’ encounters over the years, the spectators in the stadium often go at each other too. In the age of social media today, it has become easier for the fans of both the teams to take jibes at each other. Not just fans, even Aakash Chopra geared up for the Indo-Pak World cup encounter by not mincing words. The commentator took a dig at Sarfaraz Ahmed’s comment that ‘every team is scared of Pakistan’ after his side's defeat against Australia. He also gave a befitting reply to a fan of the rival team, who was hopeful of the team that won the Champions Trophy would come up on the day.

Pakistan have remained true to a term they’re often associated with, ‘unpredictable’. After being crushed by West Indies, they came back unexpectedly to beat favourites and hosts England, before imploding, after being in a good position, in the dying stages to lose against Australia.

Chopra was reminded of Sarfaraz Ahmed’s quote after their win against England. He had said, ‘Every team is scared about Pakistan. The dressing room is very confident after the England match. Australia is a strong team, we have to play stronger than them. Hopefully, we work harder before that match.”

The former Indian opener quipped, “I’m sure Pakistan is equally scared of the Pakistan that turned up today to play against Australia .”

A fan stood up for his captain and reminded Chopra that if the Champions Trophy team that defeated India in 2017 (he said 2016) came out (in terms of form) for the Indo-Pak encounter on Sunday, the commentator would go in hiding.

Chopra, however, jokingly asked what if the 2019 WC team came up instead of the CT team, before adding, “You are free to choose the edition of your liking.”
