Umpire Joel Wilson, who was recently promoted to the Elite panel of umpires, has had a miserable run so far in the Ashes opener as nine of his decisions has been overturned until now. The Caribbean official's string of bad decisions continued from the first innings on to the second, leaving Wilson red-faced.

Joel Wilson's ill-fated run continues

Aleem Dar and Joel Wilson bore the brunt of fans after giving a series of wrong decisions from the first innings. A mammoth total of 14 wrong decisions have been overturned in this match, indicating the quality of umpiring in the game. 

England skipper Joe Root reviewed two decisions during the second innings, made by Wilson, and both over overturned after the Decision Review System (DRS) was used. Fans, frustrated with the quality of umpiring, had even vandalised his Wikipedia bio. Further, they also changed his designation from an ICC umpire to not an international umpire. 

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan took a jibe at Joel Wilson and took to Twitter to say that if Wilson gave a batsman out then it had to be reviewed. Read the tweet here;
