The 2020 edition of Asia Cup, which will be held just a month before the World T20 2020, is set to be organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board, though, the tournament may not be held in Pakistan.
Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Nazmul Hassan confirmed the development while informing the media that it will be upto the PCB to decide where they'd like to hold the tournament.
"The 2020 Asia Cup will take place in Pakistan. They will tell us where we'll be holding it, since they are the hosts. India hosted it last time, but it was held in the UAE," he told media.
One of the major reasons behind the competition not being held in the country whose cricketing board is tasked with organising is the fact that India will be reluctant to go and play matches in the neighboring country, due to the ongoing tensions between the two countries.
The previous edition of the Asia Cup, which took place earlier this year, was organised by the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI), but the event was held in United Arab Emirates (UAE), given the participation of the Pakistan cricket team in India was not possible due to the political and cricketing ties between the two countries.
