Former skipper MS Dhoni recused himself from the selection for the upcoming West Indies tour, citing that he would be joining the Territorial Army for training for the next two months. With this announcement, the rumors of the World Cup-winning captain's retirement was put to rest temporarily. However, there is no definite picture of his future as rumors are still rife about when he decides to hang up his boots.
Indian commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to provide some insight about the former skipper and his actions. Bhogle's opinion was that Dhoni had never joined the Army for training for a period of two months when he was at the peak of his career. He said that with time, priorities change, and the same applied for Dhoni. Bhogle said that hopefully by the time South Africa tours India, a clear picture should emerge about the wicketkeeper-batsman's future. Bhogle hoped that the selectors have spoken to the former skipper and the need to speculate wasn't necessary.

The Indian commentator went on to say that Dhoni must be left to play as long as he wants to without being hindered by rumors of his retirement. However, he said that like with all players, the selectors must take a call on his future but it had to be done only after holding talks with Dhoni. Bhogle concluded his tweet saying that the greats command that respect.
