Australia's win against Pakistan extends unbeaten T20I streak in 2019

Australian cricket team trounced the visiting Pakistanis to wrap the three-match T20I series 2-0. In a dominating outing with both bat and ball, the Aaron Finch-led side completed a 10-wicket victory after restricting Pakistan for just 106-8 in their 20 overs. In response, opening batsmen Aaron Finch and David Warner completed the run-chase in just 11.5 overs without losing any wicket.

Australia’s unbeaten T20I streak in 2019

With the series win, Australia maintained their unbeaten T20I streak in 2019. Since Australia are not scheduled to play anymore T20Is this year, the ‘Baggy Green’ will end 2019 with an impressive record in the format. Having played eight T20Is, Australia won seven matches with a game against Pakistan ending in a rain-affected no-result.

Their streak began when Australia toured India for limited-overs contests earlier this year. In a two-match series against the hosts, Australia won both matches in last-over thrillers. Riding on Maxwell’s 56 off 43 balls, the visitors chased down 127 from the last ball to go 1-0 up in the series. They backed up their performance in Visakhapatnam with another successful chase in Bengaluru. Maxwell scored his third T20I century as Australia chased down India’s 191 with two balls to spare.

Australia then played their first T20I post-2019 World Cup with the start of their international home summer. Sri Lanka toured ‘Down Under’ for a three-match series and lost all three matches with convincing margins. Opening batsman David Warner remained unbeaten throughout the series with an aggregate of 217 runs.

Pakistan are currently on a tour to Australia for T20Is and Tests against the host nation. Rain played spoilsport as Australia were denied a win in Sydney after Finch’s explosive 16-ball knock of 37*. The home side then came back with wins in second and third matches to seal the series 2-0. The last match of the series, which also turned out to be their final T20I of the year, was perhaps their most emphatic victory of all. Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan had no answers in front of Australian domination as they look all settled for the next year’s ICC T20 World Cup in the country.
