Australia continued their recent dominance at home in T20Is after defeating Pakistan in the 2nd T20I at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday. Steve Smith scored an unbeaten half-century as Australia eased passed Pakistan with nine balls to spare. Earlier in the day, Pakistan managed to post 150/6 after Captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat.

Australia vs Pakistan: Babar, Iftikhar score half-centuries

After the first T20I in Sydney was washed out, this was Pakistan’s first game after the sacking of former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. Captain Babar Azam called correctly during the toss and led from the front scoring a magnificent half-century as the other batsman failed to get going. Iftikhar Ahmed added late fireworks including smashing Kane Richardson in the final over to take Pakistan to a respectable 150/6. Iftikhar remained unbeaten on 62*.

Australia vs Pakistan: Steve Smith leads the charge

David Warner smashed four boundaries in an over of Imad Wasim to start the chase for Australia. David Warner, who remained unbeaten throughout the series against Sri Lanka finally, got dismissed after Mohammad Amir got the better of the left-handed opener. Australia Captain Aaron Finch soon followed with Australia ending the powerplay at 48/2. Steve Smith continued his stellar form as he continued to pierce gaps on the field en-route a scintillating half-century. Smith remained unbeaten at 80* as Australia won the game by 7 wickets in the 19th over.
