The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has slapped Sabbir Rehman with a six-month ban for his disciplinary issues off the field. Following this ban, Rahman will not be able to take part in domestic and international cricket for a period extending till February 2019.

Sabbir's ban comes on the back of the shocking revelations made by Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. Reportedly, Malik's wife, Sania Mirza was a subject to eve-teasing by Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman. According to several reports, Shoaib Malik had written an official complaint to the chairman of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis regarding this misbehavior by the Bangladeshi cricketer.

If the reports in Bangladeshi are to be believed, the incident is claimed to have taken place four years ago, when the Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza traveled along with her husband Shoaib Malik, who was participating in the Bangladesh Premier League. Sania was present at the stadium to cheer her husband, where Sabbir Rahman allegedly passed insulting remarks at her.

However, this is not the first time the Bangladeshi cricketer has courted controversy. Earlier,  Sabbir Rehman was accused of threatening a fan on social media and using abusive language against them.

Sabbir had to face the wrath of his actions as he was seen reprimanded and imposed a hefty fine by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. He was also part of the fiasco that included bringing women into the team hotel without any permission from the authority.

The right-hander has played 11 Tests, 54 ODIs and 41 T20 Internationals for Bangladesh. But his off-the-field antics and dwindling form has seen him lose his central contract. His recent ban sees him axed from the national side and as result won't feature at the upcoming Asia Cup.
