April 2, 2011 - A day which no Indian Cricket fan will forget. On this day eight years ago, Team India made history by lifting the World Cup for the second time after a long wait of 28 years. They beat Sri Lanka by six wickets at the iconic Wankhede stadium as the entire nation erupted in joy.

They also became the first team to win the coveted trophy at home. On top of them all, Sachin Tendulkar fulfilled his childhood dream of winning the biggest prize in World Cricket. That winning shot from then skipper MS Dhoni will always remain etched in our memories. Then there was Gautam Gambhir who played a valiant knock of a match-winning 97. He stitched in an 83-run-partnership for the third wicket with Virat Kohli when India were in all sorts of trouble at 31/2 chasing a challenging total of 275 after having lost both their openers Virender Sehwag and local hero Sachin Tendulkar early.
