In what was a bizarre and unsportsmanlike behavior, a bowler in Somerset Cricket League intentionally threw the ball away for a boundary so that the batsman could not complete his century. The incident occurred during the fixture between Purnell Cricket Club and Minehead.

Minehead's Jay Darrell was batting on 98. He needed two runs to complete his century and win his side the match. Following the match, the player was disappointed to miss out on a ton, though, was happy about his side's win. Darrell posted a message on Twitter, which read, "Hell of game today shame the way it ended but oh well!!! Thanks for all the support today!! #UTP #Mineheadcc #litter"

His team, Minehead were also not happy with the incident. After the match, they revealed on Twitter that the opposing captain had apologised. Their message read, "Not nice to see. But more to the point, a great innings and a great win. Respect to the @purnellcc captain who apologised to the batsman on behalf of his bowler. But some things just can't be undone :("
