Just like being a part of the winning team, it also a player's dream to play the World Cup, which has come true for Hardik Pandya. The young all-rounder has been selected in India's 15-member World Cup squad and will be expected to score some vital runs in the middle-order and also contribute with the ball by chipping in with a few wickets.
The 25-year-old shared a throwback pic of himself from 2011 when India had lifted the World Cup after a wait of 28 long years. Sharing the memory of one of the best days in the history of Indian cricket, Pandya wrote 'From cheering and celebrating India’s World Cup triumph in 2011 to representing #TeamIndia in World Cup 2019, it has been a dream come true'.
Co-incidentally, the selfie features MS Dhoni, who had led India to the World Cup triumph on that eventful night of April 2, 2011. Dhoni was given company by Shikhar Dhawan and Jasprit Bumrah.
Even the netizens came forward and motivated Pandya before his maiden World Cup appearance.
Pandya will be coming into the World Cup after a successful IPL where he was a part of the victorious Mumbai Indians squad. He had scored 412 runs and also picked up 14 wickets in 16 matches.
India will be playing two warm-up games. They will be locking horns against New Zealand on May 25 and against Bangladesh on May 28.
India will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5.
