Kings XI Punjab ended their IPL season in style by registering a six-wicket win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Sunday. By the virtue of this win, the 2014 finalists finished at the sixth position in the points table after having registered six wins with 12 points. However, post the win and after having ended their season on a high, the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab and actress-producer Preity Zinta had something to reveal on social media.
She took to Twitter and admitted that she was one of the many fans of 'Captain Cool' MS Dhoni but off-late her loyalties are shifting to his daughter Ziva. She then posted a pic of her along with Dhoni and asked the fans to caption the photo.
Kings XI Punjab, who were already out of the contention of making it to the playoffs, came out all guns blazing as their star openers Chris Gayle and KL Rahul put on 108 runs for the opening stand. The duo was then dismissed in quick succession and Mayank Agarwal followed them soon. Nicolas Pooran then played a stellar cameo of a 22-ball 36. Mandeep Singh and Sam Curran later added finishing touches as KXIP got home with two overs to spare.
Earlier, Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opener Faf du Plessis scored a superb 55-ball 96. The South African skipper stitched in a 120-run stand with Suresh Raina (53). Faf fell short of a well-deserved ton when he was yorked by English all-rounder Sam Curran in the penultimate over. His innings and Raina's supporting knock helped CSK get to a good total of 170/5 in their 20 overs.
