Chris Silverwood was recently announced as the Head Coach of the English Cricket team. Silverwood's contribution to English cricket made him a suitable candidate for the job. "Chris was the standout candidate"

The managing director of England men's cricket team Ashley Giles spoke about how Silverwood was a standout candidate in all the coaching applications the ECB got. He attributed Silverwood's close relations with the English team as one of the prime reasons behind his appointment. Giles pointed out how Silverwood had served very well as England's fast-bowling coach since 2018 and had a deep understanding of the team culture.

Silverwood's cordial relations with Test captain Joe Root and ODI captain Eoin Morgan were also credited by Giles. Silverwood's attitude of focusing on mindset and team culture has been lauded by many and Giles mentioned how the English team aspires to be the world's best team - on and off the field.

About Chris Silverwood

Silverwood made his Test debut for England at 21. The pacer who has only played 6 Tests for his country was able to get 11 wickets in that period. Silverwood's main experience lies in English county cricket where he has played for Middlesex and Yorkshire. Silverwood was appointed as the head coach of the Essex team and only in his second year, Essex won the County Championship after 25 years. The coach-player trust has played an important role in earning him credibility around the England cricket circuit.
