Mitchell Marsh called an 'idiot' by Australia coach Justin Langer?

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who broke his hand after slamming it into a wall out of frustration recently, has revealed that the national teach coach Justin Langer called him an 'idiot' after that incident. The 27-year-old all-rounder was about to return to the squad for the two-Test series against Pakistan starting on November 21 in Brisbane. However, he fractured his bowling hand and has hampered his chances by expressing frustration after the Sheffield Shield match between Western Australia and Tasmania ended in a draw. Now, Marsh stands to miss the start of the home summer, which features the Test series against Pakistan.

Marsh apologises to the team

Mitchell Marsh faces up to six weeks on the sidelines. According to a report on Cricket Australia's official website, he has apologised to his Western Australian teammates for his behaviour. He feels that he has let them down and set a bad example by letting his emotions get the better of him. He termed his act as 'uncharacteristic'. Being the captain of Western Australia, Marsh led the charge with an impressive half-century. However, he was caught and bowled by Jackson Bird soon after that, which made him lose his temper.

Marsh made a return to the Test side in the fifth and final match of the Ashes 2019 in England in which he took five wickets for 46 runs in the first innings. He is the second son of former Australian cricketer Geoff Marsh and the younger brother of Shaun Marsh, both of whom have played for the Australian national side.

Mitchell Marsh made his Test match debut for Australia against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates on October 22, 2014. In September 2011, he was named in Australia's Twenty20 squad to tour South Africa. Later, when Brett Lee withdrew due to injury, he was added to the Australian ODI squad as well.

Marsh has had a stop-start Australian Test career, having been dropped and picked several times starting from the first Test of the 2016–17 series against South Africa at home, which Australia lost 1-2. He won his place back in the next year's Ashes series at home as hereplaced Peter Handscomb in the third Test at Perth being named as a bowling all-rounder. He went on to score his maiden Test century. His score of 181 was just a run short of his brother Shaun's career-best score of 182.
