Cricket: BCCI names Ashish Bhowmick as the national head of curators

With a new president in Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI will have a new head of curators as well in the form of Ashish Bhowmick, who will be forming a new system.

The BCCI has decided to put an end to the zonal curators' system and instead, opted to form an elite panel along with a developed panel in this regard. Both the panels will consist of five curators each. With the recent changes bought in the system, Ashish Bhowmick has been appointed as the head of BCCI's panel of curators. The event followed after Daljit Singh resigned from his post last month. Bhowmick will lead all the curators, who have been appointed from October 1, 2019, according to a a recent official BCCI statement.

The elite panel will compose of one curator from every area and Bhowmick has already geared up for his role. According to reports, he has been visiting all the venues that are hosting the ongoing India-South Africa matches. Bhowmick's role is to supervise the publications of the commissioners for all national parties and he will have to act as a commissioner when international parties are not held in India.

The 10 nominated curators have given their approval for the Level 1 course and will be granted publications for IPL and international parties. The curators of the developing panel will play the role of neutral curators during the national parties. However, when the number of matches in a day increase like in tournaments such as the Ranji Trophy, a circle of 20-25 well-known curators from the BCCI will be formed to handle different venues.

ELITE PANEL: Ashish Bhowmick (Head/East), Taposh Chatterjee (Central), Prashanth K (South), Sunil Chouhan (North), Prakash Adhav (West)

EMERGING PANEL: SB Singh, K Nagamallaiah, Mohananan, Ishtyaque Khan, Rakesh Kumar
