'Critical to have five people around to challenge your actions': Sanjay Manjrekar's reaction to Virat Kohli's 'Live Outside India' comment

A lot has been said about the recent comments by Indian skipper Virat Kohli, when he told a cricket fan to 'Live Outside India' for saying that he 'prefers watching England and Australian batsmen over Indians'. Some have been against his comments, others have supported him.

Joining in the debate is former Indian player and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar. He has mentioned that it is good to see few people stand up against the statements of a player who has million 'yes men' behind him. He posted his views on Twitter, and his message read,

"Virat may already have them, I don’t know, bit it’s critical when you are a star that you have at least five people around that will challenge your actions & thoughts. A star inevitably attracts a million ‘yes men’ around."

During a Q&A session with fans on Twitter for his official Virat Kohli Official App, when a random individual questioned Kohli's batting ability and mentioned preferring to watch other countries batsman, the Indian skipper got a bit angry.

The individual's question to Kohli read, "Over-rated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indians."

The Indian skipper, looking bemused, replied by stating that any individual who doesn't like his own country's team should leave the country and reside somewhere else.

"Okay, I don’t think you should live in India, then you should go and live somewhere else no. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? But I don’t mind you not liking me, but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right," he said.
