Darren Bravo left out of West Indies Test squad against Afghanistan

The West Indies selection panel has dropped Darren Bravo for the upcoming one-off Test match against Afghanistan. The match is scheduled to be played in India.

The West Indies selection panel has dropped Darren Bravo for the upcoming one-off Test match against Afghanistan. The match is scheduled to be played in India. Also, Shannon Gabriel was dropped from the squad with an injury. He will be replaced by the fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who had a good season in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Shai Hope, who sustained a finger injury during the Tests against India, was also picked as he proved his fitness in Barbados Tridents’ title win in CPL this season.

AFG vs WI: Darren Bravo dropped

The left-handed-batsman Darren Bravo seems to be in the most inferior form as he managed to score only 47 runs in the four innings he played against India. He played with a mere average of 15.66 against Blues. Also, he disastrously failed in the Caribbean Premier League. He scored 128 runs in seven innings with a strike rate of 103.22. Darren Bravo managed to score only one half-century in those seven innings he played.

AFG vs WI: Gabriel's poor form

Also, right-arm fast-bowler Gabriel was in a weak form against India. He picked four wickets in the two Test matches against the Blues. He played with an average of 56.50 along with a strike rate of 99. Later on, after the India series, he chose to play for Gloucestershire in the county cricket. He only took two wickets in the three innings he played. His bowling figure in those three innings were 0 for 39, 2 for 20 and 0 for 121. 

Meanwhile, Right-arm medium-fast bowler Joseph was selected for all three formats. It will be his first international debut. He shone in the CPL with an incredible economy rate of 7.75. The only Test is scheduled to be played after the T20Is and ODIs in Dehradun.
