Delhi Capitals rope in Jagadeesha Suchith as a replacement for the injured Harshal Patel

Delhi Capitals on Saturday named spinner Jagadeesha Suchith as the replacement for medium-pacer Harshal Patel for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Delhi Capitals on Saturday named spinner Jagadeesha Suchith as the replacement for medium-pacer Harshal Patel for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Suchith, who hails from Karnataka, was previously part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

The 25-year-old spinner has played 13 first-class matches in which he took 45 wickets. He has played 43 T20s as well, taking 37 wickets at an average of 25.54.

Patel had suffered a fracture in his right hand in the game against Kings XI Punjab on April 1 and was ruled out for 3-4 weeks.

As per IPL rules, the replacement player cannot exceed the amount that was being paid to the original player. So the price at which Suchith was acquired by Delhi Capitals cannot be more than Rs 20 lakh as Patel was signed for that amount at the IPL auction.

Delhi Capitals have played seven matches in this edition of the IPL, recording four wins and three losses.

The team is currently placed at the fourth position in the league standings with 8 points and +0.197 as net run-rate.

Delhi Capitals next takes on Sunrisers Hyderabad today at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Delhi will look to bring their campaign back on track by registering another win. The Capitals will be heading into this contest after a seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. Delhi will also look to avenge their five-wicket home loss against SRH in the reverse fixture.Dhawan finally made his bat do the talking in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders. He scored an unbeaten 63-ball 97. Even though he missed out on a well deserved century, he made sure that he had anchored Delhi's innings to perfection as the Capitals successfully chased down the target of 179 with more than an over to spare. Dhawan has now scored 249 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 128.35 which includes two half-centuries.
