As India rattled the South African side with a white wash in the series, Ravi Shastri, Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, lauded the men in blue for an 'outstanding' series win. Shastri took to Twitter and called the Indian team an excellent bunch; Shastri further congralutated the team for their efforts.

South Africa’s woes were summed up by the fact that pacer Umesh Yadav also hit a quickfire 31 from simply 10 balls with five huge sixes. On the other hand, SA could not handle India’s fiery pace attack and the wily spinners, collapsing for 162. Only Zubayr Hamza put up some fight scoring a half-century. Thereafter, India imposed the follow-on. But SA’s response failed to be different as they lost their top order batsmen very early in the innings.

Most number of home Test series wins in a row

India created a world record for winning most consecutive home series when they beat South Africa convincingly by an innings and 137 runs in the second Test in Pune. Virat Kohli's men went past Australia who had won 10 Test series twice in a row in 2000 and 2008. There is no other team that has more than eight home series wins in a row.

India lost just one Test at home during this winning streak against Australia courtesy Steve Smith and Steve O’Keefe’s exceptional performance on a rank turner in Pune in 2017. India’s last series loss at home came in 2012-13 when England after losing the first Test in Ahmedabad went on to win the next two in Mumbai and Kolkata. The last Test of the series in Nagpur ended in a draw.
