Reacting to the 15-member Indian squad for the World Cup, cricket expert and commentator Harsha Bhogle took to social media and posted a series of tweets.

The Indian selectors chose Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant as a back-up wicketkeeper in the 15-member squad which is set to be led by skipper Virat Kohli. Opining on the development, Harsha Bhogle wrote, "The chatter around the World Cup that Dinesh Karthik's place was safe but you never know until the team is announced." As seasoned Hyderabad campaigner Ambati Rayudu lost his No.4 slot, Harsha Bhogle exclaimed that he must be "shattered". Saying that his heart goes out to him, the cricket commentator went to lay the truth, "form is such a cruel mistress".

Adding that the debate for the No. 4 spot is still open, he pronounced Vijay Shankar or Virat Kohli at the much-desired slot, putting KL Rahul at no 3.

Commenting on the bowlers, he said, "The bowling picked itself".

On Rishabh Pant being left out of the ICC squad, he said, "While Pant will be a bit confused given that he is the test keeper but has been left out on wicketkeeping skills, this caps an astonishing sequence of events for Dinesh Karthik."

Based on their consistent performances, most of the members of the squad were automatic selections. However, the Selection Committee, headed by MSK Prasad, took the tough call crucial call when it came to the No. 4 spot.
