Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman Sanju Samson showed his batting credentials as he scored a valiant unbeaten 102 in his side's defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on Friday.
The youngster scored a brilliant century to help his side to a winnable 198 for 2 in their 20 overs. But the visitors failed to defend the target, with David Warner, Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar taking their side to a win.
While Samson ended up on the losing side, his display earned him plaudits, the biggest of which came from Gautam Gambhir. The former KKR skipper took to Twitter to laud the RR batsman, and backed him to be the No.4 for India in the upcoming World Cup 2019.
"I normally don’t like to talk about individuals in cricket. But seeing his skills I am glad to note that Sanju Samson is currently the best Wicketkeeper batsman in India. For me he should be batting number 4 in the World Cup," he wrote on the social media website.
But it seems a few Twitterati were not pleased with his analysis. They brought up the name of MS Dhoni to mock the former Indian batsman.
