Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has played a lot of games with MS Dhoni as both were instrumental in taking Indian Cricket to greater heights. The duo was a part of India's famous triumphs which include ICC World T20 2007, CB series (Australian tri-series) win in 2008, number 1 ranking in Tests (2009), Asia Cup 2010 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

When asked if MS Dhoni was the best captain that India has ever produced, Gambhir did not hesitate in giving his honest opinion. The 37-year-old said that Dhoni's predecessors Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble had done a tremendous job as well. At the same time, the cricketer-turned-politician also hailed Virat Kohli's captaincy in the recently concluded quadrennial event.

Speaking to news channel, the 2011 World Cup-winner said that statistics-wise Dhoni was the best captain as he had led India to ICC World T20, World Cup, and Champions Trophy triumphs but other captains should also be given their due credit as well. The ex-opening batsman also added that India won their overseas series under Ganguly's reign, Kumble too did a good job during his short stint as captain while Dravid had led the Indian team to a series win in England. Gambhir also added that under current skipper Virat Kohli's captaincy, India had registered ODI series win in South Africa and Test series win in Australia.

BIG: MS Dhoni Rules Himself Out Of Selection For Upcoming West Indies Tour

Meanwhile, India's World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni has ruled himself out of the upcoming West Indies tour. It is still unknown whether Dhoni will be continuing to play for India or whether he has any other ideas. The last time Mahi was seen was during India's semi-final loss against New Zealand in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He had scored a 72-ball 50 and shared a 116-run seventh wicket along with Ravindra Jadeja after the Men In Blue were tottering at 92/6.

Just when it looked like they would register a famous win for India, Jadeja lost his wicket. But, all hopes were not lost until Dhoni was there in the middle. It seemed that he had unleashed his power-hitting abilities in the penultimate over bowled by Lockie Ferguson when he struck a maximum. However, a sharp throw from Martin Guptill hit the bull's eye and replays showed that Dhoni was short of his crease. His dismissal ended India's hopes and while he walked back to the pavilion with a crestfallen face, it seemed that it was the last time MSD would be seen in Indian colours.
