Gautam Gambhir to support education of martyred J&K cop's daughter
In two consecutive tweets, Gautam Gambhir wrote, ‘Zohra, I can't put you to sleep with a lullaby but I'll help you to wake up to live your dreams.'

Cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday announced that he will support the education of Zohra, the daughter of the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Abdul Rasheed who was martyred in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, last month. Gambhir said he will help the Zohra realise her dreams and support her education for life.

Zohra’s father, Rashid was killed on August 28 when terrorists fired at him at Mehandi Kadal in Anantnag district. Photographs of Zohra crying inconsolably over the coffin of her father left a sense of void on social media.
On hearing about Gambhir's message, Zohra said:

Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), Shesh Paul Vaid said, “Support for Jammu & Kashmir Police martyrs shown by Gautam Gambhir will go a long way in boosting the morale of forces & assurance to kin of martyrs.”
A week ago, the Jammu and Police had also reached out to Zohra through a post on the Facebook account, DIG of Police South Kashmir. In a heart-felt message they wrote, "your tears have shaken many hearts.The sacrifice made by your father will always be remembered. You are too young to understand as to why this happened.”
“Remember we all are one family at this critical phase. Every drop of your tear sears our heart.May almighty give us the strength to go ahead with our mission of rendering services for the betterment of the society.The vow that we have taken when we donned the uniform stands supreme. Let our spirit and commitment become the harbinger of change, let it be the message of peace and harmony for the fellow citizens," the messaged read.
