'Group Captain' Sachin Tendulkar Marks Celebrations Of Indian Air Force Day Parade

Making the most of his time since retirement, Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar on Monday attended the celebrations of the the Air Force Day at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad.

The Air Force Day is celebrated every year on October 8 to mark the establishment of the organization in 1932. It was previously called the Royal Indian Air Force under the British rule, but post Independence saw its name changed to Indian Air Force in 1950.

Many well-renowned dignitaries were invited to witness the celebrations. But the most notable of them all was former Indian cricketer and Bharat Ratna awardee - Sachin Tendulkar. Interestingly, the Master Blaster was named 'Group Captain' for this particular occasion.

Press Information Bureau (PIB) posted a video wherein Sachin Tendulkar can be seen arriving at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad to partake in the Air Force Day celebrations.

Sports minister Rajyavardhan Rathore took to Twitter to convey his wishes to the Indian Air Force on this occasion. His tweet read: On #AirForceDay, a salute to the sky warriors of @IAF_MCC!From protecting the nation's skies to countless search & rescue ops during disasters, they have lived valiantly by their motto of "नभः स्पृशं दीप्तम्“ We are proud of the #IndianAirForce!

During the event, the Indian Air Force, who is regarded as one the strongest in the world, displayed their might with fighter jets like Jaguar, Bison, MiG-29, Mirage-2000 and SU-30 MKI. In what made a visual treat for the onlookers, the crowd also got to witness these fighter jets breathtaking maneuvers in the skies.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun is carving a niche for himself after the young bowler grabbed all the headlines with a clinical bowling performance in Mumbai's opening match against Gujarat in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2018.

The left-arm bowler wrecked havoc through the Gujarat batting lineup by claiming a five-wicket haul in the 8.2 overs he bowled, giving away only 30 runs. The 19 year-old's magical spell saw Gujarat beng bundled out for a paltry 142 runs.
