Guinness Book declares MS Dhoni's 2011 World Cup-winning bat the 'most expensive ever'

On April 2, 2011, MS Dhoni struck a pose that is iconic in cricket history. With four runs to win from 11 balls, Mahi lofted a Nuwan Kulasekara ball over long-on to send a packed Wankhede to utter euphoria. The ball struck the meat of the bat and the sound of it assured everyone in the stadium that India will lift the World Cup again after a gap of 28 years and Mahi's follow-through became an iconic picture.

The most expensive cricket bat was Mahendra Singh Dhoni's bat sold at auction for £100,000 ($161,295), bought by R K Global Shares & Securities Ltd (India), at the M.S Dhoni’s ‘East Meets West’ Charity Dinner, in London, UK, on 18 July 2011. The bat was used by Mahendra Singh Dhoni in World Cup 2011 finals on 2 April 2011 art Wankhede Stadium at hit the winning shot.

Dhoni is India's one of the most successful cricket captain, Dhoni led India to two World Cup triumphs -- in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 held in South Africa in September 2007 and the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup. India also won ICC Champions Trophy under him.

It was under his captaincy that India climbed to No. 1 in the ICC Test Rankings in December 2009.
