Virat Kohli's fans are not pleased with former Indian opener Gautam Gambhi after the latter questioned RCB skipper's captaincy record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and said he should be grateful to his franchise for getting so many chances.
Gambhir, while speaking on a TV show, had said that Kohli cannot be compared to the likes of Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, given the latter two had won the tournament as captain on more than one occasion, and the RCB skipper had failed to do so even once.
"I don’t see him (Kohli) as a shoot captain or a tactful captain. And he hasn’t won the IPL. So ultimately a captain is only as good as his record till the time you don’t win the IPL," the former DD and KKR skipper mentioned.
He then went onto suggest that Kohli was lucky to be given so many chances despite failing to win his side even a single tournament, something which most other captains never get.
"He has been part of RCB and captaining RCB for the last seven to eight years and he has been very lucky and should rather thank the franchise that they stuck to him because not many captains have got such a long run where they haven’t won a tournament," Gambhir added.
His comments seem to have irked the fans of Kohli, who have accused the two-time IPL winning skipper of playing down the role of the RCB skipper.
