Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Rajeev Shukla has given his take on the 'mankad' controversy surrounding Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler.

The tournament's boss took to Twitter not long after the incident had taken place on the field. He seemed to indicate that the bowler was partially at fault, citing a meeting which took place between the captains and officials.

The incident surrounding the two players took place in the 13th over of RR's innings on Monday, which Ashwin was bowling. In the midway of his run-up, the KXIP skipper realized that Buttler, standing at the non-striker's end, was out of his crease, and he dislodged the bails, leaving the RR batsman stranded.

Ashwin did not hesitate in claiming the wicket, and the decision wa referred to the third umpire, who ruled it out, much to the disgust of Buttler and his teammates, coaching staff sitting in the dugout.

It sent ripples around the cricketing world. While some chose to side with Ashwin, stating whatever he did was within the rules of the game, others supported Buttler, suggesting KXIP skipper's action were unacceptable.
