Herschelle Gibbs silences trolls with witty reply after Proteas' loss

Former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs, on Sunday, shut down a troll with a witty reply after a Twitter user tried to troll Gibbs for questioning the selection of Theunis de Bruyn and Temba Bavuma in the team after South Africa Lost to India in the first test match. Gibbs, post the loss of South Africa took to Twitter, to lash out on the team management asking, "How long is the team going to persist with the selection of Bavuma and de Bruyn?" Bavuma and de Bruyn, both failed to impress with the bat as Bavuma scored 18 and a duck whereas de Bruyn scored 4 and 10 runs, respectively. South Africa lost the first Test to India by a mammoth 203 runs. India's Mohammad Shami sent half the Proteas side packing with assistance from Ashwin and Jadeja.

Gibbs trolls a troll 

After the former South African opener questioned their selection, a Twitter user responded to Gibbs' tweet saying, "How many chances did you have?" The destructive South African opener was quick enough to respond to the troll with a witty reply, "Sorry I got 200 and 100 after 15 tests and you?" Gibbs who had a successful stint with South Africa scored over 8000 ODI runs and over 6000 runs in Test. In his international career, Gibbs played 90 Tests for South Africa and has 14 centuries to his name, including two double centuries. He is also famous for being the first batsman to hit six sixes consecutively.

India win the first test against South Africa

India beat South Africa on the fifth day of the first test match by 203 runs. Rohit Sharma's brilliant 176 and Agarwal's double ton helped India post a total of 502 in the first things. After a minor collapse, Dean Elgar's 160 and de Kock's 111 helped steady the South African ship. Rohit Sharma notched up another century in the third innings to become the first debut opener to do so and helped India set a target of 395. India convincingly outplayed the Proteas in the final innings with Mohammed Shami registering a 5-wicket haul. By the virtue of this win, the Virat Kohli-led side continues to be at the summit of the ICC World Test Championship points table as they have added 40 valuable points to their tally.
