The laws of the cricket took a backseat after Ravichandran Ashwin, Kings XI Punjab skipper, 'mankaded' Jos Buttler, inflicting a massive blow on Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Monday night. Amid the controversy revolving around Indian spinner, Netizens backed Ravichandran Ashwin and said that he took revenge for Lagaan 'Mankading' by dismissing Jos Buttler.

The Internet could not help but comparing the entire 'Mankad' episode with a scene from 2001 Indian historical epic sports drama film 'Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India'.

It's the scene when young Tipu came in place of injured Ismail in the movie and had the highest partnership with Bhuvan. However, a British player ' mankaded ' tipu and Tipu was given out by the umpire.

Meanwhile, KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin opened up about the events and expressed no regret. He also added that it was an instinctive decision, not premeditated.

"It was pretty instinctive. I actually didn't load and he (Buttler) left the crease. That's always been my take on it because it's my half of the crease. I was not even at the crease, he wasn't even looking at me and he just left the place," the off-spinner said.

The KXIP skipper also defended himself by mentioning that his actions were well within the rules of the game.

"It was instinctive. It wasn't planned. I don't know where the spirit of the game things comes because if it's within the rules, it is. I don't understand the point of sporting spirit because it is within the rules," Ashwin added.
