Ben Stokes has been the talking point in the cricketing circle ever since his glorious fourth-innings knock of 135 runs that not only saw England grab a win over Australia but it also meant that it kept the hosts' hopes of getting the Ashes urn alive. In fact, its been quite a summer for the England all-rounder, beginning from England's World Cup victory in July to his knock in the third Ashes Test. After England won the controversial final against New Zealand to clinch their maiden World Cup, ICC's social media handle had taken to post a picture of Ben Stokes and the cricketing legend 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar, drawing a comparison between the two and going on to establish Ben Stokes above Sachin Tendulkar himself. Well, ICC has done it once again.
ICC took to Twitter to repost the World Cup photo of Sachin Tendulkar and Ben Stokes with a caption that read 'told you so'. The statement has once again triggered a war on social media, with Indian fans lashing out at the social handle for comparing the legend with an upcoming cricketer. Further, some Indian fans accused the social media handle of being biased towards Sachin Tendulkar citing the handle's repeated attempts to put down the legend. Even if the social media handle had posted this in a lighter spirit, it has invited the fury of not just the Indian fans but Tendulkar fans from all parts of the world. Here's what ICC posted on their Twitter handle:
Indian fans revere Sachin Tendulkar as the 'God of Cricket' and they will not shy away when it comes to protecting the honour and respect of the legend. Netizens fumed at ICC's social media handle for its recent post, with many fans putting away ICC's attempts to compare the two cricketers as superficial and childish. Many fans even took to put out the statistics of the two players and said that the statement made by ICC's social media handle was completely void. Another fan took to point out that Ben Stokes had emerged as the hero on both occasions only after an incident of bad officiating that gave him another golden opportunity to save the match. Take a look at some of the reactions of the Indian fans, giving it back to the ICC:

Shall I talk about centuries??
A couple of matches are not sufficient to prove someone greatest of all time. It takes whole of career to define someone's character. How long you sustain in your peak time will recognise you as a great cricketer and need to think of between greatest and the God.— Digvijay Singh (@dvjaysingh) August 27, 2019
