The cricketing fixture between India and Pakistan at the upcoming World Cup 2019 in England has dark clouds looming over it as the International Cricket Council (ICC), during its meeting in Dubai later this month, is set to discuss if the two teams should play each other.

The Indian faithfuls have been dismayed and disgruntled by Pakistan's response to the Pulwama terror attack - orchestrated by Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Many within India have demanded Pakistan to be isolated in every aspect, which includes boycotting them at the biggest event in cricket.

In light of the recent events and developments which have followed, sources have said the ICC is now set to intervene in the cricketing aspect, and will discuss the matter during its meeting on February 27.

While a huge section of people in the country feel that the recent attack means all ties with Pakistan should be cut off, including the cricketing ones, the BCCI seems to be taking a cautious approach on this matter.

Sources have told Republic TV that the cricketing body will hold informal talks at the earliest on whether India and Pakistan fixture should go as per schedule. While one section within the BCCI wants India to boycott Pakistan, the other section wants to go ahead with "wait and watch" approach.

"Situation will get clearer after some time, a little closer to the World Cup. ICC has nothing to do with it. If the government at that point in time feels we shouldn't play, it's obvious that we won't play. But the result of that would be that Pakistan will get the points of the match and if it is the final (between India & Pakistan), they will win the World Cup without even playing. We haven't yet approached ICC in this regard," the source told Republic TV.
