Rahim and Das show some fight

Mahmudullah Riyadh and Mushifiqur Rahim had a mammoth task ahead of them to avoid an innings defeat. Mohammed Shami started the proceedings for the hosts post-lunch with Ravindra Jadeja operating from the other end. It did not take India long to break this partnership as Shami's love affair with the opposition's second innings continued as he bagged his third wicket when he took Mahmudullah's wicket.

Mahmudullah poked a delivery outside off and the ball flew off the edge which was grabbed by Rohit Sharma in the slip cordon. Liton Das joined Rahim at the crease. Das started playing positively as he started dealing in boundaries. He scored three boundaries of an Ishant Sharma over.

Both the batsmen changed their approach and attacked the Indian spinners and pierced gaps consistently for a brief period. But the partnership was put to an end when Ravichandran Ashwin flighted delivery and Das went for a drive which ended up in the bowler's hands. Das scored a quick 35 off 39 balls with six boundaries.

Tailender Mehidy Hasan joined Rahim in the middle. Rahim completed his half-century in the process and Hasan supported him well. Both ensured that no further damage was done as they saw their team to tea on Day 3 at 191/6. Rahim is batting on 53 and Hasan on 38. The visitors are still trailing by 152 runs.

Bangladesh dominated this session as they lost only two wickets and scored runs at a quick pace. They will try to drag the match for as long as possible. If they manage to take the match to Day 4, it could well be a moral victory for them.
