India Aim To Bounce-back In Third Test

  • Indian skipper Virat Kohli faces a task of getting the team combination right in the third Test.
  • Ben Stokes makes his return to the England squad after recently being cleared of affray charges.

India will be looking to put the rest the myth of them being bad travelers in the ongoing five-match Test series when they square off against England in the third Test at Trent Bridge.

The Indian cricket team has subject to much criticism for their abysmal performances, barring, skipper Virat Kohli, who has on many occasions proved to be the team's saving grace. With the visitors currently trailing 2-0, there have been allied doubts of a repeat of 2011 tour, when India were whitewashed 4-0 in four-match Test series by the hosts.

Virat Kohli, who conceded that team combination was "a bit off" in the second Test against England, faces a selection headache ahead of the third Test in what is possibly a do-or-die situation for the Indian cricket team. However, Kohli can breathe a sigh of relief, atleast temporarily, with Jasprite Bumrah available for selection after being ruled out in the first two test matches due to a thumb injury. Rishabh Pant, looks most likely to handed his Test debut, given the struggles of India's top-order batsmen.

For the England cricket team, Ben Stokes makes his return to the squad after recently being cleared of affray charges. Stokes is set to replace Sam Curran in the starting eleven, after the latter's match-winning performance in the second Test.

As far as statistics are concerned, the venue has not been a happy hunting ground for the visitors. In the last six meetings between the two sides at Trent Bridge, India registered one victory and England have won on two occasions, while the other three matches have ended in a stalemate.
