India managed to secure a four-wicket victory over West Indies in the opening game at Florida, Miami, which turned out to be a low-scoring game. Batsmen from both the sides struggled to get the ball to the boundary as the conditions of pitch favoured the bowlers.

A tough game amid testing conditions

West Indies managed to set a 96-run target for the Men in Blue amid the brutal pace attack from India. Debutant Navdeep Saini impressed everyone with impeccable figures of 3-17, halting the West Indies onslaught. The pitch, too, was very slow, not allowing the batsman to capitalize and keep the scoreboard ticking. Ultimately, the West Indies finished their innings on a dull note, with Kieron Pollard top-scored for the side with 49 runs.

The Indians lost opener Shikhar Dhawan at the beginning of the chase, following which skipper Virat Kohli and vice-skipper Rohit Sharma took the game forward. However, no one batsman could settle himself as the conditions were unforgiving. The Men in Blue managed to chase down the target with over two overs to spare and finished their innings at 98-6.

Navdeep Saini was adjudged Man of the Match for his economical spell of just 17 runs with three wickets from his four-over spell.

Pitch condition for the second game

The second T20I is scheduled to take place in the same stadium (Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida ) on 4 August. The pitch conditions are expected to remain more or less the same with more chances of a slower pitch. This means yet another low scoring contest awaits the fans, a one similar to the first match. Despite forecasts of rains, the game was completed as per schedule without interruption.

Weather Update

Showers with heavy thunderstorms are predicted for the game. However, the rain did not play spoilsport in the previous game despite earlier predictions of the same. The maximum and minimum temperature is forecasted to be at 31-degree Celcius and 26-degree Celcius respectively.
