After showing promise on their tours of South Africa and England in 2018, the Indian team finally crossed the finish line in Australia as they recorded a 2-1 series win and scripted a first-ever Test series win Down Under. Breaking a 72-year long hoodoo, Virat Kohli and his men outclassed the hosts in all the departments and deservedly retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

The result was extra special for the current lot of players, who have been criticized by many, including those back at home, for their performance in overseas tours. It was a befitting reply to each and everyone of them, as the Indian team, filled with a mixture of youth and experience, became the first team from Asia to beat Australia in Australia.
