Murali Vijay

Indian Test specialist Murali Vijay was roped in by CSK upon their return from suspension in 2018. However, the right-hander made a cut into the playing XI in only three matches in IPL 2018 and 2019. The batsman scored only 76 runs in his three outings at a low strike-rate of 107. Considering that he has not been utilised to his potential in the recent editions, the cricketer is likely to be released by the franchise in IPL Auction 2020.

Karn Sharma

Much like Murali Vijay, Karn Sharma was also under-utilised by CSK in the last two seasons. The 32-year old leg-spinner played only seven matches during this period, picking up just five wickets at an expensive economy rate. Initially brought in by the franchise for ₹5 crores in 2018, the cricketer is also one of the likely candidates of Indian players to be released by CSK.

Shardul Thakur

The right-arm pacer was purchased for ₹2.6 crores by the franchise in 2018. The cricketer also played 23 matches since then and accounted for 24 wickets. In spite of his decent performances, Shardul Thakur can still be released by the franchise in the upcoming auction due to CSK’s existing pace-battery and their over-reliance on spinners.
