Irfan Pathan shares his inspirational story to motivate kids with Thalassemia

Indian pace bowler Irfan Pathan recently shared an inspirational story about his life with his 1.5 million followers on Instagram. In the video that Pathan posted, he was talking to kids who suffer from the rare blood disorder, Thalassemia. Have a look at what Pathan said in the motivational video.

Pathan was meeting kids who suffered from Thalassemia through an initiative by the Saarthi Foundation, an NGO which helps children with the blood disorder. Pathan in his video talked about the power of the mind and how one can rise over the difficulties that life throws their way. The pacer who played his last match for India in 2012 urged the kids to believe for their recovery and work hard towards it.

To convey his point, Irfan Pathan gave the kids an example of a seemingly 'career-ending' injury he faced in 2010. Pathan referred to the injuries he had sustained in his back and spine which led to him being out of action for more than a year. He told the kids about how the doctors told him that he would never be able to play cricket again but he was persistent on his recovery. Pathan then worked hard on getting better and made a Team India comeback after a year and a half. The comment section of Pathan's post was filled with compliments for the speech he made. Among the many comments, some came from cricket veterans like VVS Laxman and Suresh Raina who conveyed their pride regarding Irfan's speech. Pathan last played the IPL for the Gujarat Lions in 2017.
