Ranji Trophy veteran Wasim Jaffer is currently leading Vidarbha in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. After three weeks of quality One-Day action, the Vidarbha team are placed at 14th position in the Elite Group A and B points table. The Wasim Jaffer-led side has won three and lost four of their seven matches so far in the 18th edition of India’s premier domestic One-Day competition. Former Indian Test cricketer, however, criticised the pitches in Vadodara by calling them unfit for List A matches.

Wasim Jaffer slams ‘unfit’ Vadodara pitches
Jaffer, the highest run-getter in Ranji Trophy matches, termed the Motibaug ground pitch as “close to being dangerous”. He cited that no one is being able to score above 150-160 runs at that ground and a few players have been already hit by the ball while batting on that pitch. He also said that other Vijay Hazare grounds in cities like Bengaluru, Jaipur and Dehradun are getting good sporting pitches to play.

The ongoing edition, which started on September 24, began with a flurry of abandoned games due to continuous rains. The Baroda Cricket Association still took up the responsibility of hosting the Vijay Hazare matches in spite of heavy rain forecasts. A member of the team’s coaching staff believes that the match referees should submit a detailed report about the available pitches to the Indian cricket board.
