With BCCI announcing their 12-man squad a couple of days prior to a match has become some sort of a norm, it is understood that in its latest squad update provided by the cricketing body, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Umesh Yadav have been rested for the third T20I against West Indies.

Having already sealed the three-match T20 series against West Indies with a 2-0 lead, presents a great opportunity for the Rohit Sharma-led side to give a runout to some of the fringe players in the squad.

This means that Siddharth Kaul has called in to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the attack. The BCCI's decision to rest its key players comes, keeping in mind the grueling tour of Australia which almost a fortnight away.

"The Indian team management has decided to rest Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav from the upcoming third Paytm T20I against the Windies in Chennai. The decision has been made to allow the trio to be in the best physical condition ahead of India’s tour to Australia," the BCCI press release said.

Interestingly, the idea to rest its key players comes at a time when Virat Kohli had made an appeal to the Supreme Court-appointed CoA to manage the workload of players. The Indian skipper opined that the players miss the IPL, keeping them fresh for the 2019 World Cup.

India squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddarth Kaul

Before facing India in a three-match T20I series, the Aussies will take on South Africa in a one-off T20I match. Veteran spearhead Peter Siddle has also been omitted from the side with the selectors keen for the four players to remain fresh for the upcoming Test series against India.
