Former Australian batting great Mathew Hayden recently said he had 'dodged a bullet' after suffering fatal injuries to his neck and face while surfing during the weekend with his son. However, one his former rivals and friend has decided to poke fun at him instead.

The 46-year-old was reported to be surfing on the Stradbroke Island, off Brisbane, where the incident is said to happen. With the cricketer known to active on social media, took to Instagram to share pictures of the injuries, saying that his ''game over for a few days”.

Mathew Hayden's picture shows him wearing a neck brace and with few injuries to his face. The caption on the post read: “Fractured C6, torn C5, C4 ligaments safe to say I truly have dodged a bullet. Thank you everyone. On the road to recovery.”

Meanwhile, former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes seems to have found the funny side to this incident. The talismanic cricketer went on to compare the abrasions on his Hayden's head to the coast of Tamil Nadu.

Jonty Rhode's left a comment on the Australian's picture, with many fans appreciating the South African's sense of humor. The comment read: ''Is that a map of the Tamil Nadu coast u are wearing on ur forehead? Real commitment buddy!!! Some of us softies take softies take the easy option and just get tattoos.

Though, Mathew Hayden's admiration for India and Tamil Nadu in particular is no hidden fact. The Australian used to ply his trade for Indian Super League outfit Chennai Super Kings and has also been part of the Star Sports commentary team for the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

And if recent events suggest anything, it seems that the former Australian cricketer just can't enough of Tamil Nadu. However, there are very few Australian cricketers who are loved by Indians, and Mathew Hayden is one of them them.
