The first ODI between Australia and India in Sydney went in the favor of the hosts, who now lead the three-match series 1-0. It was a mixture of some intelligent batting and brilliant bowling which helped the Aussies register a much needed victory.
Despite posting 288 on the board batting first, a below par score in SCG, the hosts managed to restrict India to 254 for 9 in their 50 overs, and hence registering a morale boosting 34-run win.
One of the major reasons, at least according to the Twitterati, for India's loss was the batting display of MS Dhoni. While the former Indian skipper did manage a fifty, second highest for an Indian in the innings, his knock came at strike rate of just 53.
He came in at a tough time, and it was understandable him playing slowing early stages. But even in the latter half of his innings, he failed to get going, and by the time of his dismissal, the required rate had gone up to close to 8.
Social media users have now come out and blamed the 37-year-old for India's defeat, and have left no stones unturned in bashing him.
