  • Cricketer turned coach Ravi Shastri has gone on to say that former Indian captain MS Dhoni and current Indian captain Virat Kohli have a lot of respect for each other.
  • Virat has also admitted that Dhoni has helped him a lot in reviving his career and that he owes a lot to 2011 World Cup winning captain.

Just three days after the series defeat against Australia and with the focus shifted towards the World Cup, cricketer turned coach Ravi Shastri has gone on to say that former Indian captain MS Dhoni and current Indian captain Virat Kohli have a lot of respect for each other.  While MSD is known for his icy cool approach, Virat has become famous for his fiery approach and on-field aggression.  It is this aggression which has made the two superstars what they are today.

Dhoni and Kohli have known each other well both professionally as well as personally since over a decade and thus, their different approach has never prevented them in getting along with each other. Virat has also admitted that Dhoni has helped him a lot in reviving his career and that he owes a lot to 2011 World Cup winning captain.

Both these sporting icons have had their fair share of memorable moments, including winning the 2011 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy and Asia Cup triumphs in 2010 and 2016 respectively. Dhoni resigned from captaincy in January 2017 and handed over the reigns to Kohli who is doing an excellent job at the moment. He has made sure that the burden of captaincy has not affected his batting in any manner.

Under Kohli's captaincy, India have reached the 'Numero Uno' spot in Test rankings. Earlier this year, he also became the first Indian captain to win a Test as well as a bilateral ODI series wins in Australia. He had also led India to the final of 2017 Champions Trophy.

Shastri has also said that both Dhoni and Kohli are unique and their style of playing as well as captaincy stand apart from each other. He also goes on to say that Virat had respected Dhoni as a senior player ever since he made his debut in 2008. Today, Virat as a captain is getting a lot of respect from Dhoni as well.

Virat never hesitates in asking Dhoni a thing or two when it comes to making bowling changes or field placements. Meanwhile, both of them will be competing against each other as Virat's Royal Challengers Bangalore takes on Mahi's Chennai Super Kings in the opening game of the 12th edition of IPL which starts from 23rd March.
