In a fit of rage, Western Australia captain Mitchell Marsh injured his right hand when he reportedly punched a wall in the dressing room. The injury may hamper Marsh's chances of participation in the Perth Test against Pakistan on November 21. The incident took place in Western Australia's Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania which began on October 10. WACA tweeted about the incident on Twitter.

The extent of the injury remains unknown

The incident happened in the second Western Australia innings when the captain Mitchell Marsh was batting at 53. Jackson Bird, who was giving the batsman a hard time, got Marsh out (caught and bowled). Marsh was unhappy with his dismissal and punched a wall in the dressing room after getting back into it. Western Australia coach, Adam Voges, expressed his concern over the condition of Marsh's hand. Western Australia managed to tie the three-day Test match, thanks to Ashton Agar's 76 and Shaun Marsh's 85. Western Australia's next match begins on November 2 against Queensland at The Gabba.

Did Marsh hamper his Test chances?

Mitchell Marsh and his brother, Shaun Marsh, have been inconsistent figures in Australian cricket. While both cricketers are massively talented, their inconsistency and injury issues have hampered their careers. Mitchell has been booed by the Australian crowd and remained an inconsistent figure in the Test outfit even after being named Test vice-captain. He was recalled into the squad for the final Test of the Ashes where he took seven wickets as Australia retained the urn. Mitchell has a very legitimate chance of making a comeback into the Australian Test side in November when they host Pakistan. The camp would be hoping that Mitchell sustained is not too serious and does not affect his chances in the Pakistan Tests as the younger Marsh brother would like to grab the opportunity with both hands.
