Mitchell Starc has been arguably the trump card of the Australian bowling line-up for a long time. He has also been a successful pace spearhead for the Aussies. Starc was the leading wicket-taker in two consecutive World Cups in 2015 and 2019 respectively. In fact, he was adjudged Player of the Tournament in 2015 where the Aussies had won their record fifth world title. Now, the left-arm speedster is also looking to set a benchmark for himself in the shortest format of the game as he picked two quick wickets to put Pakistan on the backfoot in the 3rd T20I.

Mitchell Starc picks up two in two

This happened in the third over of the first innings after Australian skipper Aaron Finch had won the toss and elected to bowl first. at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was Starc's first victim. Babar who had rescued his team twice failed on this occasion as the tall pacer's inswinging delivery rushed into his pads and he was trapped in front of the wicket. There was a huge appeal from the Aussie players as the on-field umpire raised his finger. Meanwhile, Azam decided to get it reviewed and replays showed that the ball would have clipped the leg stump and the umpire's call meant that Pakistan captain had to walk back. On the very next delivery, Mitchell Starc castled Mohammad Rizwan off a dream delivery. Another beautiful inswinging delivery came tailing back to the right-handed batsman as he was clueless about where the ball would be pitched and in the end, his stumps were left shattered as the wicket-keeper batsman walked back to the dugout for a golden duck. The video of Mitchell Starc's beautiful piece of deliveries that left the batsmen perplexed was posted by Cricket Australia on their official Twitter handle.

Australia restrict Pakistan to 106/8

Pakistan batsmen failed to deliver in this decider as the hosts picked up wickets at regular intervals. Only Iftikhar Ahmed played an enterprising innings of a 37-ball 45 at a strike rate of 121.62 as the top-ranked T20I side could only manage 106/8 in their 20 overs. Kane Richardson was the pick of the bowlers for the Aussies with figures of 3/18 in his four overs at an economy rate of 4.50. Mitchell Starc on the other hand, finished with figures of 2/29 from his four overs at an economy rate of 7.25.
